Summer is a symbol of sunshine and vitality, but for door and window glass, it can be a severe test. Self-explosion, this unexpected situation, has left many people confused and uneasy.

Have you ever wondered why this seemingly sturdy glass would "get angry" in the summer? How can ordinary families prevent and respond to the self-explosion of door and window glass?

1、 The reason for the self-explosion of tempered glass
01 Extreme Weather:
Sun exposure itself does not cause tempered glass to self-destruct, but when there is a strong temperature difference between external high-temperature exposure and indoor air conditioning cooling, it may cause the glass to self-destruct. In addition, extreme weather conditions such as typhoons and rain can also cause glass breakage.

02 contains impurities:
The tempered glass itself contains nickel sulfide impurities. If bubbles and impurities are not eliminated during the production process, it may cause rapid expansion under temperature or pressure changes, leading to rupture. The current glass production technology cannot eliminate the presence of nickel sulfide impurities, so the self-exploration of glass cannot be completely avoided, which is also an inherent characteristic of glass.

03 Installation stress:
During the installation and construction process of some glass, if protective measures such as cushion blocks and isolation are not in place, installation stress may be generated on the glass, which may trigger thermal stress concentration on the glass under sudden exposure to sunlight, leading to damage.

2、 How to choose door and window glass
In terms of glass selection, the preferred choice is 3C-certified tempered glass with good impact resistance, which is certified "safe" glass. Based on this, the configuration of door and window glass is further selected according to factors such as the living environment, urban area, floor height, door and window area, noise, or quietness.

01 City Region:
Suppose the location is in the south, with a relatively dense population, high daily noise, a long rainy season, and frequent typhoons. In that case, it is important to pay attention to the sound insulation and water tightness of doors and windows. If it is in the north, mostly in cold weather, more attention will be paid to air tightness and insulation performance.

02 Environmental noise:
If living on the roadside or in other noisy areas, the door and window glass can be equipped with hollow and laminated glass for a better sound insulation effect.

03 Climate Change:
Choosing glass for high-rise buildings requires a thorough understanding of its wind resistance performance. The higher the floor, the greater the wind pressure, and the thicker the glass needed. The requirements for wind resistance on lower floors are lower than those on higher floors, and the glass can be thinner, but the requirements for water tightness and sound insulation are relatively higher. These can be calculated by the staff when selecting doors and windows.

3、 Emphasize brand selection
When choosing doors and windows, it is important to pay attention to the brand and try to choose well-known and high-quality door and window brands, to fundamentally avoid the occurrence of door and window quality problems.
The factory produces "safety" glass that has undergone 3C certification and tempered steel labeling. Its impact strength and bending strength are 3-5 times that of ordinary glass. At the same time, the self-explosion rate has decreased from 3% of ordinary tempered glass to 1%, reducing the possibility of glass self-explosion from the root. The glass interlayer is filled with argon gas with a concentration of over 80%, and the details of the black waveguide patterned hollow aluminum strip that is bent together are treated to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the window while effectively ensuring its service life.

4、 Dealing with glass self explosion

(1) Using laminated glass
Laminated glass is a composite glass product made by bonding two or more pieces of glass with one or more layers of organic polymer intermediate film, which undergoes high-temperature preloading and high-temperature high-pressure processing. Even if laminated glass breaks, the fragments will stick to the film, keeping the surface intact and effectively preventing them from puncturing and falling, thereby reducing the risk of personal injury.

(2) Stick a film on the glass
Stick high-performance polyester film on glass, also known as safety explosion-proof film. This type of film can stick to fragments when glass breaks to prevent splashing, protect personnel from injury, and also prevent damage from wind, rain, and other foreign objects indoors. It can also form a glass film protection system together with the frame edge system and organic glue to prevent glass from falling.

(3) Select ultra-white tempered glass
Ultra white tempered glass has higher transparency and a lower self-exploration rate than ordinary tempered glass, thanks to its lower impurity content. Another characteristic of this is that the self-explosion rate is around ten thousandths, approaching zero.
Doors and windows are the first line of defense for home safety protection. Whether it is product quality, workmanship, or the design and selection of door and window matching products, LEAWOD Doors and Windows always considers the customer's perspective, only to truly meet their needs. Let this summer be only sunny, without "glass bombs", and protect the safety and tranquility of the home!
